Over the years we have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to implement a number of memorable effects for our friend Deadmau5<\/a>. These photoshoot stunts are probably dreamed up Deadmau5 himself as a way to draw press and attention to his latest album or single but I think the real reason for them is that he just loves fire, pyro and it is a thinly veiled excuse to have a lot of FUN!\u00a0 My kind of guy really!<\/p>\n

Whenever we do a shoot for Deadmau5 the photographer of choice is another great friend, the talented and awesome Matt Barnes of Matt Barnes Photography<\/a>. Matt and his team have been shooting high resolution famous and some not so famous characters for years and his photos are always spectacular. He has created an amazing niche for himself by combining dramatic effects (like the flamethrowers and colored smoke seen here), with wicked lighting and post production techniques and, of course, amazing subject matter. He has a talent for distilling the essence out of his subjects in a character driven way that presents them as larger than life superheroes. Yes, I am a fan of his work!<\/p>\n

On these shoots am constantly amazed at how much time and effort goes into a single frame created by a shutter release that can be as quick as 1\/1000th<\/sup> of a second. Meetings, scheduling, budgets, pre production, permits, insurance and then all the work on the day like trying to organize the goats (yes, there were goats in some of the shots). Inevitably some things work and others don\u2019t but we roll with it as a team and power through to create an awesome shot together. It is a lot of fun and I am fortunate to experience this level of creativity from an amazing team first hand.\u00a0 Well done everyone!<\/p>\n
