The question was, \u201cwhat do you know about Tesla coils?\u201d Well it turns out our technical director, Tom Comet, worked extensively with Tesla coils a number of years ago on a TV show for the Discovery Channel. What a coincidence&#8230;<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.danger-boy.com\/blog\/2016\/05\/gm-volt-launch\/2-4\/#main\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-621\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-621 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.danger-boy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/2-2.jpg\" alt=\"fog screen, fogscreen, movie effects, special effects, spfx, fx, effects, practical effects, fog, fog machine, smoke machine, smoker, smoke, haze, lsg, snow, snow machine, flutterfetti, confetti, tiny fogger, low smoke generator, high voltage, hvfx, tesla coil, mega fog burst, co2 jet, dry ice, liquid nitrogen, foam, foam generator, mbn-630, ultratec, g3000, fog fluid, smoke fluid, ice jet\" width=\"900\" height=\"524\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.danger-boy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/2-2.jpg 900w, http:\/\/www.danger-boy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/2-2-300x175.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.danger-boy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/2-2-768x447.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThis time around the Tesla coil was to be part of a large set piece that would play a key role in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gm.ca\/gm\/english\/vehicles\/chevrolet\/volt\/overview?adv=110208&amp;k_clickid=178ad93e-d846-d609-83d8-00006f6b911b\" target=\"_new\">Chevy Volt<\/a> launch held at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ydsquare.ca\/web\/\" target=\"_new\">Yonge-Dundas Square<\/a> in downtown Toronto. We custom built a pedestal stand for an extremely large coil and incorporated the Chevy Volt graphics. Tesla coil demonstrations were staged throughout the day from 10am to 8:30pm.<\/p>\n<p>In this case it was the car, the Tesla coil itself and the 2 million volt electrical streamers that fired 6-8\u2019 off the top of the coil that was the featured attraction. People were blown away by this high voltage spectacle and it drew a lot of attention throughout the day.
